Below is a description of the different classes we offer here at Aspire Dance Studio. Ages are based on dancer’s age as of August 01, 2025

Creative Movement

Introduce your little one to the joy of movement in our Creative Movement dance class. This class is designed for children ages 2-4 to explore the world of dance in a fun and playful way. Through simple, age-appropriate activities, students will develop basic motor skills, coordination, and rhythm. With a focus on creativity and building confidence, this class is a great first step into the world of dance.

Creative movement students wear ballet shoes. They will have 1 costume and perform at the recital.

For Ages 2-4

Combo

In this class, students will build their skills and confidence through the basics of ballet, jazz and tap. These styles will build a strong foundation for future dance training. Students will learn new steps, develop coordination, and have a blast while making new friends. This class is our best recommendation for boys and girls ages 5-11 who are excited to dance and perform!

Dancers wear dance half shoes and tap shoes for class and recital. They will have 2 costumes and perform 3 routines at the recital.

For Ages 5-7, 8-11

Technique+

This class focuses on developing and refining a dancer’s fundamental skills and body control. It is structured to target the core elements of movement, such as strength, flexibility, coordination, alignment, and precision. A technique dance class is essential for dancers at any level to build the foundation for more advanced movements, enhance overall performance, and maintain a strong, healthy body for dance.

Dancers wear dance half shoes for class.
Technique+ will not have a recital performance. 

For Ages 5-7, 8-11, 12-18

Ballet/Pointe

Ballet is a highly technical and artistic form of dance that emphasizes grace, precision, and the expressive potential of movement. Ballet incorporates a rich vocabulary of movements, intricate footwork, and strong body alignment, all performed with an emphasis on fluidity and control.
Pointe is a ballet style reserved for dancers 12 years and older. Dancers must be approved through an assessment of ankle strength, feet flexibility, and balance. Dancing on pointe requires proper training and technique to ensure safety of the dancers. It is a very rewarding style of dance which defines an aspect of classical ballet combined with artistry, technical precision, and physical strength to create an elegant art form.

All ballet/pointe dancers wear dance half shoes for class and recital. Pointe dancers must be approved before purchasing pointe shoes. Dancers will have 1 costume and perform 1 routine at the recital.

For ages 12-18 (Ballet is a part of the Combo class for ages 5-7, 8-11.)

Tap

Tap is a rhythmic dance form where the performer creates intricate sounds and patterns by striking the floor with special tap shoes that have metal plates on the toe and heel. This style is defined by its focus on rhythm, precision, and footwork.

Dancers wear tap shoes for class and recital. Dancers will have 1 costume and perform 1 routine at the recital.

For Ages 12-18 (Tap is part of the Combo class for ages 5-7, 8-11.)

Jazz

Jazz dance is a dynamic and expressive form of dance that blends various techniques from ballet and contemporary dance.  It is characterized by energetic movements and syncopated rhythms.  Jazz dance emphasizes strong body control, isolations, and fluidity.  Jazz is often performed to upbeat music and incorporates a variety of steps such as kicks, leaps, turns, and jumps.

Dancers wear dance half shoes for class and recital. Dancers will have 1 costume and perform 1 routine at the recital.

For Ages 12-18 (Jazz is a part of the Combo class for ages 5-7, 8-11.)

Hip Hop

Hip hop is a high-energy, dynamic dance style that includes features of popping, locking, and breaking mixed with jazz techniques. Hip hop dance is characterized by its bold, sharp movements, and a strong emphasis on rhythm, isolation, and body control.

Dancers wear hip hop shoes purchased through the studio for class and recital. They will have 1 costume and perform 1 routine at the recital.

For Ages 5-7, 8-11, 12-18

Tumbling

It combines athleticism, strength, flexibility, and body control, and is often seen in competitive cheerleading, acro dance, and even in certain styles of contemporary or jazz dance. Tumbling includes a wide range of movements such as flips, rolls, handsprings, back handsprings, aerials (no-handed cartwheels), and other dynamic stunts that require precise technique and timing. 

No shoes needed.. Tumbling will not have a performance in the recital.

For Ages 5-7, 8-11, 12-18

Event

Our Event Classes are one-time specialty classes. Each class is held on a single day and may vary in age group, dance style, or area of focus.
A one-day class open to all dancers—fun, focused, and a great way to try something new!

Wear athletic clothing that is easy to move around in.

Ages vary based in the class.
